Carol was appointed to the post of Chief Executive for Stirling Council on 7th March 2019
Carol joined Stirling Council in 2014 as a Senior Manager for Economic Development, and was appointed Director of Children, Communities and Enterprise in May 2017 before stepping up to the role of Interim Chief Executive in August 2018 following a four month term as Depute Chief Executive. In her role as Senior Manager for Economic Development and Regeneration, Carol had responsibility for expanding Stirling’s economy to secure its place as a strong contender for global investment. She focused on creating new employment and regeneration opportunities through place development, business sector growth and inward investment.
Having worked within an international context in both the private and public sector for 20 years, Carol has developed specialist knowledge in developing international trade and foreign direct investment. She has a particular interest in growing trade skills development and the global reach Scottish businesses, which was acknowledged when she became an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Export. She has overseen a number of ambitious new projects and initiatives that include delivering best in class visitor experiences in heritage and urban tourism and working with technology businesses to support investment in innovation.
